Making a statement before the presentation, Mambu S.Feika , the Director of Prisons Watch Sierra Leone, said the position paper contains comments, recommendations and the organisation’s position on the constitutional review process with specific reference to the protection of human rights, prohibition of torture, Cruel In Human Degrading Treatment(CIDT), public emergency, Supreme Executive Authority, among others.

He encouraged all to be actively involved in the constitutional review process noting that a constitution- making process can be one of the defining moments in a country and that if key factors are excluded, peace is more likely to collapse.

Justice Edmund Cowan is the chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee, and according to him, the committee is still on the review process of the 1991 constitution and that they have been receiving different position papers from different groups, institutions and organizations.

He said the position papers being received are going to be copied and shared among the different sub committees for deliberation on some of the issues. Some of the recommendations, he assured, will eventually been looked at keenly.

As the constitutional review process continues with the involvement of different units, it is hoped that at the end of the process, Sierra Leoneans will have a constitution appreciated by all.
