This call was made by the Executive Director Native Consortium Edward Abu Jnr. during a press conference at AWOL office Pademba Road, Freetown as part of their observations and recommendations in the 2018 multi-tier elections.

According to Mr. Abu, Native Think Tank accredited over 560 election observers across the country, adding that they have been monitoring the process from registration through voting day and subsequently the announcement of the final result.

“Besides monitoring the registration process, NCRC had also been monitoring the elections machinery in which all data and information on the elections processes was filtered, analyzed and verified,” Mr. Abu said.

According to him, they observed that the National Returning Officer of NEC gave a single decimal digit of 25% in the first result while the 2nd and 3rd were on double digit decimal. However, he said that the final 100% result was in single decimal percentage which led to a total of 100.3%.

“The recount and data processing at the tally centre should have been projected on big screens instead of the small screens used,” he maintained.
