According to the Managing Director of D & S Associate, Calvin Kane Davies, he intimated that D & S Associate is comprised of experts and well experienced engineers in various civil works projects and years back his company was sub contracted to build the ADM substation as part of Ecowas fibre optic cable across the country.
He noted that his company was established in 1993 and since then, the company has been engaged in several civil works projects in the country in line with international practise.
Calvin Davies also disclosed that for the sake of transparency and accountability, the Ministry of Energy put out a bidding process to the general public in which various indigenous and international companies showed interest, but eventually D & S Associate emerged as the best and most credible company to procure the machines.
Records available to this medium revealed that D & S Associate wasted no time in bringing the machines which were installed in it designated locations in Koidu Town and Lungi in the Port Loko District.
Following the installation of the machines in Koidu town and Lungi, residents of the two townships commended government and D & S Associate for the restoring electricity in that part of the country and whole projects was referred to as a lofty package and the realisation of far- fetched dream. During a joint tour with the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC) to the Koidu Power Station, there was a clear demonstration and appreciation for the excellent work of D & S Associate and the Government of Sierra Leone in alleviating their problems.
This also gathered that, the two power Stations are manned and routinely taken care of by Chinese Expert based in Sierra Leone and more so.
In an interview with residents of Koidu Town and Lungi, they commended D & S Associate for the continued and determined posture to provide electricity in the townships without any interruption. The residents also stated that the restoration of electricity in Koidu Town has brought tremendous change and happiness in their lives and environment, adding that electricity is an essential perquisite for the socio- economic development of a nation. “We can now watch TV at night and most importantly, electricity has encouraged school pupils, students to engaged/ form study groups in furtherance of their education and at the same time revamp commercial activities in the township” a resident remarked. They explained that Koidu Township had been without electricity for several decades, and that such tangible development clearly demonstrates government readiness to pilot electricity in various part of the country. Base on the credibility, clear sense of purpose and hard work of engineers at D and S Associate couple with it clean records of installing solar lights in districts headquarters towns and cities, the government of Sierra Leone should not relent to partner with D & S Associate in achieving adequate electricity and for Sierra Leoneans at the same time promote the Agenda for prosperity
