The dissolution came after the Vice President of the Western Area Football Association (WAFA), Foday Turay, in a press release few days ago, stated that they have postponed WAFA congress slated for 20-21st of this month indefinitely for certain reasons.
He said one of the reasons is that match fixing allegations levied against the chairman is currently pending and in the spirit of fair play to ensure it is not used unfairly to influence the out of the elections.
He also stated that due to financial constraints it is the tradition that Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) should finance regional congresses but due to the current circumstances SLFA has provided funding for regions since the Isha Johansen executive assumed office in 2013.
All efforts to acquire sponsorship have proved futile.
He also stated that other issues which form the basis of discussion at the assembly will be addressed at the scheduled general meeting
With all this ugly development the things that were holding WAFA together is no more.
