Deceased from the Wellington Fire Disaster that happened part Friday were laid to rest yesterday Monday 8th November, 2021 in Bolima, Waterloo.

The Ministry of Social Welfare and the National Disaster Management Agency liaised with the affected family members to facilitate the burial ceremony.

Government arranged for the transportation of affected family members and other mourners to and from Bolima, Waterloo and buses were also made available at PMB Junction, Wellington and Connaught Hospital Mortuary and depart to the burial site.

President Dr. Julius Maada Bio joined mourners at the burial ceremony where he addressed a large crowd of community people. He said Sierra Leone has lost over 100 of its compatriots in a single instance and now struggling with about 100 survivors in the hospitals.

The president said this is a moment to come together and avoid the blame game, adding; “we must come together as a community and deal with this disaster. We must say never again will we make such a mistake”.
