He urged both the cleaning and security agencies responsible to provide security and cleaning of the building and its environs to step up in delivering their services, while noting that the ministry will institute a monitoring mechanism to ensure services contracted are delivered.

According to him, his ministry is working to improve the toilet facilities for both visitors and security personnel at the Youyi Building in an effort to improve sanitation.

“Our ministry is 100 percent ready to maintain Youyi Building so as to tell people about the seriousness of this government to maintaining public assets. In my view, there has been massive improvement in the manner at which Youyi Bulding has been handled under the ‘New Direction’ administration,” he said.

Senior Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Public Assets, Prince Cole said the ministry has been receiving complaints from ministers, staff and the public on the current state of Youyi Building especially in the area of security and sanitation.

He said the ministry would continue to engage them so as to encourage them to live up to their responsibilities.

Officer-in-Charge of Security at Youyi Building, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abraham Lawson, reported about the unavailability of security light around the ministerial building and its environs.

He stated that the canteen at Youyi Building operates during odd hours, which automatically draws the attention of many unauthorized individuals to enter the premises at night.

Senior management staff of the ministry called for the review of both the contract of the security and cleaning agency respectively to ensure effective service delivery.
