Speaking to this writer in an exclusive interview last evening, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samuel Saio Conteh, Deputy Police Media said contrary to wide spread rumors that the police arrested APC supporters during the riot, the fact is that the police indeed instituted arrests but certainly not APC supporters but irate rioters who were attack police at the APC party headquarter surroundings.

He said currently, all arrested rioters are being detained at the Criminal Investigations Department, Jui Police Detention Center and the OSD headquarters in Freetown helping police in their investigations.

ASP Conteh concluded that after Police would have completed documenting these rioters, they will be charged to court for constitutional discipline.

The fine police officer hastened to tell the public that the police is the people’s friend and the Force will not for any reason(s) arrest an innocent person. The police the ASP added, is a professional Force that is guided by rules and regulations of operations and that it has been and will continue to work under these rules and regulations in ensuring peace and security of the state and also protecting lives and properties of all.
