Asked about how they go about preserving the bodies, Mr. Kamara said the Ministry of Health and Sanitation provides formaldehyde which is used to preserve the bodies.

He used the opportunity to appeal to the government to immediately relocate the people still living in disaster prone areas to safer places. He said the previous government had provided houses for slum dwellers at 6 Mile but that they complained of lack of basic social amenities at 6 Mile. He further pleaded with the government to look into this matter seriously to see how they can provide the needed amenities at 6 Mile and in other suitable areas for the immediate relocation of people living in disaster prone areas.

He furthermore used the opportunity to appeal to the government to make the mortuary a part and parcel of the Disaster Response Team and to build more mortuaries across the country. He also requested that the Connaught Mortuary be extended as it is currently very small to accommodate corpses as in the case of the August 14, 2018 mudslide incident when the mortuary was overwhelmed and numerous corpses were indecently displayed on the ground of the mortuary which Mr. Sinneh Kamara said is not good for our national identity and for the mortuary.

He called on the government to make available 3 ambulances and 3 utility vehicles to the Connaught Mortuary for the use of personnel for quick response in times of any disaster.
