Regarded by Forbes Magazine as the most prestigious Awards on the African Continent, the African Achievers Awards held on 10th December, 2021 at the Kensington Palace in London has recognized the Rokel Commercial Bank for Excellence in Banking and Financial Services. On top of this, the Bank’s Managing Director, Walton Gilpin was invited to speak as a special guest at the event. “This special invitation is for your selfless service to your nation and outstanding innovation strives towards the promotion of the Africa Common Agenda…”

With this year’s theme; “Initiation Diaspora Investment for Diversified African Economy”, the Awards honours young achievers, community builders, institutions and heads of institutions whose work has been impactful in the development of their respective countries and the African continent.

Receiving the Award, the Chairman of the ROKEL COMMERCIAL Bank Board of Directors, Mr Buffy Bailor, explained how the bank has been able to transform from a loss-making to a profit-making financial institution. He said the Bank has recently paid dividend to its majority shareholder – the Government of Sierra Leone as well as its minority shareholders.

The African Achievers Awards have a list of notable recipients including African Statesmen like Arch- Bishop Desmod Tutu, Proff John Atta Mills, Jakaya Kikwete, late Vice President Solomon Ekuna Berewa etc.
