They were also said to have further undermined the president’s peace as enshrined in the country’s national constitution.

Although the court could not proceed with the matter due to failure by the prosecution to bring forward witnesses for testimony, counsel representing all detained cliques, Larel Fio Edwards Jnr, renewed his application for bail but his request was turned down by the presiding magistrate.

Dr Kamara told the court that it would be unfair for the court to grant bail to accused at this stage, especially when the persecution had not completed leading witnesses in evidence and considering the gravity of the offences allegedly committed by accused persons.

He further noted that the accused persons had been a total menace and unnecessary evil to society, adding that many innocent Sierra Leoneans and unsuspected members of the public had become “victims of their nasty and rebellious outward conducts and behaviours”, and at the same time created panic and commotion among peace loving Sierra Leoneans.

He said it was high time the court set the records straight to accused persons and for them to realise that clique activities had no place in society and that he would use the powers vested in him to curtail clique and other anti-social activities frequently perpetrated by the so-called cliques against innocent and unsuspected members of the public.

He concluded by ordering the incarceration of all accused at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown and adjourned the matter to 28 November 2016.
