Corporate Affairs Director of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, Victor Baindoma has said the entire Board and Management of the Bank is perturbed with the numerous attempts by some section of the to blackmail the leadership of the Bank over the procurement of official and operational vehicles.

Mr. Baindoma confirmed that the procurement of an official vehicle for the Managing Director of the bank and fifteen operational vehicles is a blessing to the financial institution as huge sums of money will be saved to reflect in the upcoming Bank Balance Sheet.

He declined to comment on the purchase of the vehicles as a result of the ongoing investigation into the procurement process by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), but however said the entire Board and Management of the Bank is very pleased with the procurement process as the fifteen operational vehicles he said will save the Management billions of leones on hiring vehicles for its operations.

Director Baindoma assured that despite several attempts by some journalists to blackmail the leadership of the bank, the vehicles in question are highly standard, no mechanical faults and will serve the bank for years to come.

He said the Board and Management have nothing to hide because the procurement process for the vehicles was handled purely by the Procurement Department of the Bank and not the Board or Management, adding that the Bank is currently on good footing with regards the huge profits the financial institution is making. He cited the Le132 billion that the Bank made in 2022 after pretax.

Director Baindoma described the Bank as the first indigenous commercial bank in Sierra Leone that is 100% owned by the Government of Sierra Leone, adding that all staff of the Bank are Sierra Leoneans.

He assured that having clocked fifty years since its establishment in 1973, the Bank continues to stay and deliver; and that no amount of attempted blackmail will dampen the resolve of the Bank to continue delivering value and living to the expectations of Sierra Leoneans.
