Senior g7+ Officials conclude 2-day meeting in Sierra Leone

Senior officials meeting of the g7+ concluded its two-day session at the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel in Freetown. The meeting was inaugurated by Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Vice President of Sierra Leone with other government officials.

Emmanuel A.B Turay, Director of Information at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, stated that the event, hosted by the Ministry of Development and Economic Planning, aimed to reaffirm the g7+’s commitment to peace, stability, and sustainable development in conflict-affected and fragile regions.

Dr. Helder da Caster, Secretary-General of the g7+, expressing gratitude for Sierra Leone’s leadership over the past decade.

The Secretary General also highlighted Sierra Leone’s membership in the non-permanent Security Council and preparation for the upcoming UN General Assembly in the United States.

In her remarks, Kenyeh Ballay the Minister of Development and Economic Planning informed journalists that the g7+ was established in 2010.

Since then, Sierra Leone has been working unanimously to consolidate peace in conflict-affected countries.

She stated that over two decades ago, Sierra Leone was a victim of such conflicts, emphasizing that for the g7+, there is no development without peace.

The G7+ has played a significant role in advocating for conflict-affected and fragile countries on the global stage.

Despite recent challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions, the group continues to expand its activities and influence.

The upcoming Senior Official Meeting will be vital for member countries to discuss priorities and strategies in the face of evolving global dynamics.
