Sierra Leone’s current Chief Minister, Dr. Moinina David Sengeh and Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah celebrate nearly 20 years of positive contributions to advocacy and nation building.

The photos attached with this article, show the two youngmen nearly 20 years ago, during their days of active advocacy in putting together the Child Rights At.

Back then, Chernor was the President of the Children’s Forum Network and together, he and David worked on the Child Rights Act 2007.

Today, they both sat in President Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s top Cabinet as they passed a super progressive and incredible Child Rights Bill 2024.

David Sengeh said: “I were Secretary General and President respectively of the Children’s Forum Network. We campaigned for and got the first child rights act passed to guarantee our rights and protect children in Sierra Leone. Today, we sat in cabinet to debate the amendment of the Child Rights Act that would go much further in protecting children, enshrining rights and bringing up to date the provisions of that old law.

“We are privileged to be led by a President with the courage and the vision to pass such a progressive and far reaching law in cabinet. We were emotional today. And elated. It’s not lost on us that this was never guaranteed. The provisions we adopted today could not have even been imagined 20 years ago. When folks ask why we signed up to serve, this is why.

“To make a difference. To keep pushing the circle. A huge day for children. A huge day for us. We marked it with this selfie! (PS. Try to find us both in this picture that’s about 20 years old) Thanks President Julius Maada Bio.”
