Sierra Leone’s Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has explained to customers the new methods in entering meter recharge units (top up).

In a press statement, the EDSA sad: “Procure electricity tokens from EDSA and any of the aggregators (Africell and others; Input the first 20 digits and wait for 15 seconds; Input the second 20 digits and wait for another 15 seconds; and Input the last 20 digits and observe the face of the meter. It will show you ‘02’ and then ‘success’, before displaying your total token purchased”.

The Authority said once a customer completes the above process, it is an indication that his/her meter has been upgraded to the second generation of tokens.

The Authority said it has seen and heard a voice note making rounds on social media instructing all consumers of electricity that during their meter upgrade exercise, after inputting the first 20-digit number, they should wait for 5 seconds before inputting the second set of 20 digits.

“The Authority wants the public to note that the information contained in this audio is misleading and unfounded and therefore, should be totally ignored”.
