According to Romesh Bhoyroo; the Director Strategy and Business Development of the Airports Council International ACI, unlike the audit of the civil aviation, ACI is here to engage Aviation authorities in Sierra Leone with experts to conduct the Airport Excellence in safety program that will look into areas like the aviation documentation process, safety and emergency response plan, and wildlife protection. He went further to state that work will start straight away and on Friday; the mission will debrief the Aviation Authority on findings.

Safety and regulation is the same across the world regardless of how small or big the airport is and according to the Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority Moses Tiffa Baio, this process will look into every sphere of safety and operations in the Airport system and for the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority, this agreement with ACI will strengthen further corporation and set the Freetown International Airport for certification.

The Board Chairman of the Sierra Leone Airport Authority Edward Williams expressed delight in the exercise and said that the Airport is ready for the mission and that they had been in touch with the Airports Council International helping them with necessary information.

This is however not the only exercise the Airports Council International wants to undertake in the country. The institution has called on the government to take advantage of other projects that has to do with airport development of which the state can benefit from.
