He made this statement during the closing courtesy of the 2 weeks International Tennis Federation (ITF)/Olympic Solidarity Level two coaching course staged by the Sierra Leone Tennis Association (SLTA) in collaboration with National Olympic Committee of Sierra on Saturday 30th April 2016 at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown.
Mustapha stated that whenever he is invited to deliver statement in such programs, he always thinks of two things. One is to shower praises on the National Olympic Committee because he has been in office for 8 months and during this period he has seen several courses organized for coaches. This he said is a big plus to the NOC.
Adding that in the past it was very difficult to see such courses organized to upgrade the technical abilities of the coaches.
He added: “Secondly, it is the role of the coaches. It is not just about teaching you the basic technical skills or how to hold the racket or to show the athletes how to play but you also have moral responsibilities. These moral responsibilities include how you behave to the athletes during practices or in public”.
“You should serve as their role models; advice them to be steadfast in their studies and prepare them for the future because after retirement they would have another career to follow. By this you will be able to produce quality players for the country, “he admitted.
