When Abu Kabbia was initially charged to the Magistrate Court in Freetown during preliminary investigation, he pleaded guilty and later begged for mercy.

During the preliminary investigation at the lower court, four prosecution Witnesses testified and two of the prosecution witnesses testimonies, Aminata Kanu and Mohamed Bangura were produced and tendered in evidence, after the lower court had found the Abu Kabbia wanting for trial in the High Court of Sierra Leone.

When the matter was mentioned before Hon. Justice Abdul Rahman Mansaray on 1st October 2019, his Court Registrar, Daniel Davidson testified that some of his duties include, sitting court with the presiding judge, sent notices to lawyers and take custody of case files assigned to him.

He informed the court that he has a case file of the sex abuser, Abu Kabbia, in which Aminata Kanu and Mohamed Bangura testified, before it was committed to the High Court for trial.

The depositions of Aminata Kanu and Mohamed Bangura were produced and tendered in evidence.

At this stage of proceeding, both the State prosecutor, Kabbah Conteh and Sonia Bobanie Browne from the Legal Aid Board, who defended Abu Kabbia, assured the court that they would submit their written closing addresses to the court in three weeks time.

Hon Justice Abdul Rahman Mansaray then withdrew the file for judgment and adjourned the matter to Friday 25th October 2019.

Abu Kabbia’s co-sex offender, Brima Thaimu Koroma was also arraigned before Hon. Justice Abdul Rahman Mansaray on one count indictment of Sexual Penetration of a Child under the age of eighteen years old.

He sexually penetrated the sex organ of a child on 2oth October 2018, at seven Battalion, Goderich and was charged to court for committing the said offence.

The wayward sex abuser, Brima Thaimu Koroma had pleaded quilty to one count charge of Sexual Penetration of a Child under the age years old, to wit fourteen years, but pleaded guilty and begged for mercy.

He was committed to stand trial in the High Court of Sierra Leone with a Committal warrant dated 22 February 2018, and chose not to call any witness, as he relied on his statement to the police in respect of the matter under adjudication.

Also, Counsel for the State, Kabbah Conteh and Lawyer Sonia Bobanie Browne from the Legal Aid Board, who represented the sex offender, Brima Thaimu Koroma promised to submit their written closing addresses to the court, pending final judgment.
