Other presidential nominees to sensitive public positions that were approved were Mrs. Amy E. Greene and Emmanuel Tucker to serve as board members at the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority.

The Chief Whip of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) that seconded the motion, Hon. Dickson Rogers of Constituency 100, Pujehun District, said the presidential nominees are all qualified for the positions they were nominated and urged them to work in the interest of the country.

He noted that it was good that President Bio nominated Prof. Kamara to chair the NASSIT Board of Directors as he was the first to serve in that capacity when the Trust was formed in 2000.

“He is the best man to serve on that board. And I can say it here that he is just here in parliament for the sake of protocol, but he is capable and qualified to head the NASSIT Board adequately,” he added.

Hon. Rogers also admonished the two board members of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority. He advised them to do their best to raise the standard of electricity supply in the country and also to motivate the staff for better and loyal output. He urged Madam Green to make women of the country proud while serving on the board. “Make sure you advise them well and make the women out there happy. We have a good country but there is no benefit gained by its populace,” he remarked.

All People’s Congress lawmaker, Hon. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo of Constituency 64 in Karene District, commended the president for nominating Prof. Kamara to serve as chairman of the NASSIT Board, describing him as ‘suitable to serve in that capacity.’
