Speaking on the importance of the transportation industry, the minister said 95% of the world’s trade is currently being moved by sea and aviation transportation, adding that transportation by land contributes immensely to economic recovery and growth.
He said the essence of building roads cannot be overemphasized as according to him there is a Chinese proverb that states: “If you want to develop, build roads”.
The minister further disclosed that the aviation industry is ‘exploding’, citing that almost every country in the world is building or contemplating to build a new airports.
This, according to him, is because the airports are getting smaller, the planes in the air are getting lesser and passengers are everywhere”.
“So the future of Sierra Leone is in the hands of the transportation sector,” he stated, noting that the country cannot afford to wait until the facilities are available.
