Councilor ward 150, Karifala Issa Sankoh stated that this was the most important project undertaken by anyone for that village, disclosing that the people’s call has been answered and they will not be travelling nine miles anymore to access health center.

The coordinator of the implementing partner, Little Step Sierra Leone Organization Tamba Kargbo, called on the people of Konkoba to utilize the facility for the purpose for which it was constructed for.

“As it stands it’s just a house unless it is used for the purpose for which it was constructed for, then it will be considered a health center.” He said.

Paramount Chief of Wara Wara Yagala chiefdom Gbawuru Mansaray III thanked the Minister of Works and Public Assets for the health facility provided and the many developmental projects undertaken by him in his chiefdom.

He discouraged the idea of giving birth at home, stating that there are bye-laws to punish anyone caught.

Speaking on behalf of the medical practitioners in the Koinadugu district, the District Health Sister Angela M. Rogers confirmed that the newly constructed health center has increased the number of PHU in Yagala to five.

She disclosed that the numerous works of the minister in the District cannot be easily highlighted and she called on the people of Konkoba to chase all drug peddlers out of their village, since they now have a health facility.

Representative of Fonte DI Speranza, an Italian organization, Marco Verona expressed hope that health center that he is significantly proud of, would serve the people of Konkoba adequately.

Delivering the keynote address, the Minister of Works and Public Assets Peter Bayoku Conteh used the occasion to thank God for the opportunity accorded to him to serve his people and most especially Konkoba people.

Peter Bayoku Conteh applauded the people of Konkoba for their relentless effort in supporting the construction of the health center.

“I am here today thanking the people Konkoba starting with the chiefs, youths, women and children for all their contributions towards the construction of the Health Center.” he said.

He mentioned that it was as a result of the provision of local materials by the Konkoba People that the project was actualized, stating that the 22 thousand euros would not have been enough if local materials were not used.

He added “when a community is unity as one and focus on development, they can achieve a lot for the benefit of the community.”

He called on the people to be drinking clean water from the dug-up water well that he has constructed to, with the help of his partners, pointing out that drinking of clean water is the beginning of good health.

He admonished the people to stop hiding sick people in their houses and should make good use of the facility provided.

He concluded by assuring the people that their call for Fridge, generator and staff quarters would be related to his development partners accordingly.

The commissioning was climaxed with honors of cutting the ribbon presented to a pregnant woman to symbolizes the purpose of the building.
