The president elect of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, had clearly stated to the world that the outgoing president had no constitutional right to denounce the election results and call for fresh elections. He had also maintained that he was the president-elect and would take over the governance of The Gambia come January.

Many including my very self, know Yayah Jameh to be a dictator and therefore would find it very difficult to hand over political power simply because he is afraid of him being brought to book for his 22 years of dictatorship rule of The Gambian people.

A peaceful transition of political power when applicable is not just an exhibition of political democracy, but also the core of modern civilization. The legacy of one who peacefully releases power often overshadows the tyranny of his or her administration.

Yayah Jameh needs to learn some lessons. He does not just appear to be a power monger until death do him part, but one who may need some psychological interventions to help him face the realities of life relative to the voice of the people.

It is no secret that Africa now focuses on development and not anything that will bring instability in the region. West Africa to be specific is very peaceful and progressing; we therefore certainly do not need any dictator and selfish leader like Yayah Jameh to destabilize the region for us.

I am calling on all Sierra Leoneans at home and in the diaspora to pay special attention to what is currently going on in The Gambia, especially when Yayah Jameh seems to scapegoat his ideologies by referring to Sierra Leone as an anti-democratic state; hence, the sacking of our democratically elected Vice President. I quite agree there were issues surrounding the sacking of our democratically elected Vice President but a ruling was passed in favour of the government by the Supreme Court which is the highest court of our land and we respect it.

JAMEH DO NOT MESS SIERRA LEONE WITH YOUR DIRTY POLITICS!! We are a democratic state.

The ECOWAS just sent a team of personals to The Gambia in order to help convince Yayah Jameh to see reasons why he should relinquish political power peacefully. The ECOWAS visit seems to be very much abortive as Jameh is still bent on having a fresh election. He seems to be defiance.

History tells us that the defiance of Charles Taylor to yield to ECOWAS, OAU and the UN to contain the conflict in Liberia later led to the spread of instability in Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and Guinea.  We do not need a repeat of that history in Africa anymore. ECOWAS, AU and The UN please do all you could to get this dictator to his senses.

YAYA JAMEH OF THE GAMBIA MUST BE STOPPED NOW!!
