Sylvia Blyden Vs. Asmaa James War of Calumny!

The genocide saw 3 Rwandan journalists charged by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda for direct and indirect incitements to commit serious human rights violations. She said, in the said genocide, a female prime minister, Agathe Uwilingiyimana, was killed for what resulted from hate messages that were disseminated by media practitioners.

“Everything he alleged is not only untrue and total nonsense but the use of negative tribalism as a cloak to hide alleged criminal activities, was nasty; very very nasty. It reminds me of those dark days around that radio station which darkness is well recounted within the TRC report,” Blyden said.

“The Independent Media Commission should not wait for me to even complain to them. They should have issued an immediate sanction against 98.1,” Blyden ended. This is so because a post conflict society as Sierra Leone where the war was seen as ethno-regionally and ethno-politically based, the immediate post-conflict society can easily slip into another conflict if the media does not behave responsibly.

Therefore, she is seeing such statements as inciting and should not be treated with any amount of complacency. She said that in itself is defamatory to her personality, as she has always treated Sierra Leoneans of all regions without any prejudice and bias.  She said, such statement has exposed her to hate.

Meanwhile in this Friday’s edition of Awareness Times is the full text of the 10 pages complaint lodged to the Police about a grand conspiracy to defraud by certain of her ministry’s officials and other persons.
