Rashida Kamara, the environmental and social management specialist, who has been part of the team that sensitized the people, said the project was approved by World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Energy and Power. She explains that the reason for the compensation was to evacuate those residing under the lines but cannot do so without the due process.

She recounted that the ministry has a package of livelihood restoration and the distribution of agricultural equipments.

According to Rashida, one hundred and twenty two household heads were affected and the affected houses to be demolished are ninety two. She said that the project affected persons will be compensated according to the worth of their properties.

The Minister of Energy, Ambassador Henry O. Macauley thanked the chiefs, nondurables, councilors, and the project affected persons for their cooperation with EDSA and the government. He said that the issue of light is a fast moving sector and that it involves a lot of work. He also said that the issue of light is a partnership and that he is happy to know that the chiefs, honorable, councilor and the people of that constituency are ready to partner with the government to promote the issue of electricity in the country.

EDSA Chairman, Sanusi Deen pointed out that the affected persons should vacate the premise in the stipulated time as agreed.
