The Minister of Foreign Affairs Professor David John Francis has launched 5 key Governance documents that will guide the day-to-day operations of the Ministry and its 24 Foreign Missions abroad at the retreat organized for all Heads of Missions and Senior Management of the Ministry.

The 5 Key Governance documents include; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Strategic Plan 2022- 2025; guidelines Governing the appointment and functions of Honorary Consuls for Sierra Leone; Administrative guide for Ambassadors, Heads of Chanceries and other Foreign Service officers accredited abroad, the Foreign Service Handbook and the Foreign Service  Diplomatic List of staff.

The minister further gave a step-by-step explanation about the benefits of the various documents to the government and people of Sierra Leone.

According to the Minister, the 5 Governance documents will provide the roadmap for an effective service delivery by both the Ministry and Foreign Missions abroad, promotes the core values of Diplomatic relations in terms of good representation, coordination, supervision, clarity of roles and responsibilities between the Heads of Missions and Heads of Chanceries and the promotion of National interest.

Professor Francis and his team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured Heads of Missions on the monitoring and implementation of the contents of these documents, so as to ensure that their contents are fully implemented for the benefit of all.
