Delivering her judgment, the judge told the jam-packed court that the convict abused his position of trust by penetrating the sexual organs of a 9-year-old girl (name withheld) in the Freetown.

Prior to Foday’s conviction, his Lawyer, Cecilia Blake from the Legal Aid Board, made a plea to the presiding judge to tamper justice with mercy as their client was a first time offender of the charge preferred against him.

She also pleaded with the bench to take into cognizance the length of time her client had spent at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown, and that since he was remanded he had always conducted himself well throughout the trial process.

After listening to her   plea of mitigation, Justice Samba said that Foday abused his position of trust by having sexual intercourse with a minor which was clearly against the law.
