High ranking members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) led by the Deputy Minister of Defense Rtd. Col. Muana Briama has on Thursday 11th November 2021 paid a courtesy call on the CEO of the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire, Ambassador Anthony Navo Jr.

The courtesy according to the deputy minister of defense is to collaborate and partner with the AYV in terms of getting involved in what the military is doing through coverage and media training.

While speaking, Rtd. Col. Massaquoi and his team expressed appreciation to the CEO of AYV for his contributions in the provision of a school through AWOL.

He said: “I have been to the school and we appreciate it.” Adding; the military wants to collaborate and partner with AYV to provide training for the media wing of the military, help in extensive coverage of activities of the military.

“We want you to be involved in most of our activities because the wider people do not know much about what we are doing, so collaborating with you will help greatly in an extensive coverage of our activities”, he noted.

The fine military man went on to say they recognise the contribution of the media especially what AYV is doing in the country and even beyond.

Welcoming the delegation, CEO Navo Jr expressed appreciation for the visit, while assuring the soldiers of AYV’s willingness and readiness to collaborate and work with the military especially in terms of public relations.

He cited the importance of telling your own story and emphasised the importance of such a partnership especially when AYV is enjoying an enviable partnership with the BBC.

The CEO said: “I believe the military will also benefit from such training after this partnership.” He furthered that his professional technical team will look into the details of the partnership together with the RSLAF team to navigate the way forward to sign the MOU by next week.

He pledged commitment in giving training, equipment, theories and all other necessary support to the RSALF, noting that it part of their civic responsibility and cooperate social responsibility to support the military especially when they are providing security for the nation.

“You have my support and approval in the light of proposed partnership” Amb. Navo Jr assured.

The courtesy visit was climaxed with a tour of the AYV facilities, showing top class facilities and studios, groundbreaking and state of the art equipment and also the ultramodern multipurpose hall of AYV.
