Ambassador WU Peng told the gathering that, since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1971, China and Sierra Leone always support and cooperate with each other in international and regional affairs. Adding to that, the Chinese government attached great importance in supporting the economic and social development of Sierra Leone and that the Embassy was encouraging more Chinese companies to invest in Sierra Leone. He went on to state that, he was happy to see the Chinese companies undertaking corporate social responsibility to the local communities and hoped they would do more to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

The Clerk of Parliament, Mr. Ibrahim Sesay thanked Chinese government and people for the support in the development of Sierra Leone and praised the good behaviors of the Chinese companies for giving back to the local communities. He also said that, the investment of Chinese companies in the areas of industry, agriculture and infrastructure in the country have helped to create a lot of job opportunities for Sierra Leoneans which have also helped to improve their lives. He opined that the Parliament would do its best to continuously promote the cooperation between the two countries.

 The school representatives also thanked CRSG for their support. The distribution by Ambassador WU and other Chinese representatives of the donated items of school bags, books, desks, footballs and table tennis climaxed the ceremony.
